What is Thyroid?

The thyroid is a gland that is in the lower part of our throat. This gland creates thyroxine hormone which regulates many things in our body.

What cause Thyroid?

The thyroid glands form two types of hormones: T3, T4 and TSS, when the balance of these two hormones deteriorate, the problem of thyroid appears.

  • Practice this 30 time if it’s your first day and then gradually increase your duration.
  • You have to throw one breath in one second.


The ideal duration for Kapalbhati Pranayama is 5 min. Thyroid patient practices this exercise for 15-30 min every day to cure the thyroid rapidly.

When to do:

Morning time is the best time to practice this pranayama because the air is clean in the morning. You can also practice this pranayama after 4-5 hours of your meal. Thyroid patients should practice this pranayama 2 times a day, one in the morning and second in the evening, 1-2 hours before dinner.

Ujjayi Pranayama

Ujjayi Pranayama is the best effective treatment in Yoga for the Thyroid problem. If you practice 20-25 min this pranayama you can cure your Thyroid permanently. Asana Yoga For Thyroid


In this Asana, you have to move your head 360 degrees in clockwise and anticlockwise direction. This posture is very easy to do for anyone. Practice this for 2-3 min after Ujjay Pranayam or after 4-5 hours of the meal.


Practice it for 1 min.

When to do:

In this posture, we do not have the need for any physical force, so it can be practiced at any time.

Singhasana (Lion Pose)

In this posture we make pose like lions and roar like a lion, hence it is called Singhasana.

How to do:

  • Sit on Vajrasana.
  • Keep a little distance between your knees.
  • Now place both hands on the floor between legs. The palms should be inwards and the head should be in the upper direction.
  • Take a deep breath, now take out your tongue and roar like a lion.
  • Massage your throat at the end of the asana.


The ideal period for this exercise is 3-4 times. Thyroid patients can practice it 10-15 times or more.

When to do:

Practice it after 4-5 hours of the meal like other asanas and pranayama exercises.

Matsyasana (Fish Pose)

As the name suggests, in this posture, we make pose like a fish. Matsya is a Sanskrit word which means Fish.

How to do:

  • Lie down on your mat.
  • Now tie your legs, lift the waist area up, and bend down the head and place the top of the head to the ground. (See picture).
  • Now hold your both toes with your hands.


You can practice this Asana for 5 min, thyroid patient has to practice it more.

When to do:

5-6 hours after the meal.

Sarvangasana (Shoulder Pose)

Sarvangasana, which gives strength to all organs. “Sarva” means All, “Ang” means “Organs” and “Asana” means “posture”.

How to do:

  • Lie down straight on your mat.
  • Keep your both legs combined.
  • Bring your legs slowly all the way to up in the level of your head.
  • Leave the body weight on your head, shoulder, and elbows.


Practice it for 1-2 min

When to do:

Morning or 4-5 hours after the meal.

Halasana  (Plow Pose)

Halasana means plow pose. It is made up of 2 words “Hal” means “Plow” and “Asana” mean “posture”. In this posture, we made a shape like a Plow.

How to do:

  • Lay down on your mat.
  • Now, take your both legs upward together and make an angle of 90 degrees.
  • Now move your leg backward and touch the floor by your toes and place your hands on the floor.


Hold in this position for 5-10 sec. Thyroid patient gradually increases the duration.


  • Some poses are hard to do, so practice them only under guidance. If you are suffering from hypertension, heart problems, hernia, and back pain, then do not practice these postures, only practice pranayama.
  • Do not leave the medicines completely after starting yoga. When you gradually increase your practice, your medicines will also gradually decrease.
